American Express Cards are planned very specifically, for catering to select client bases. The Starwood Preferred Guests American Express card is one such card, which is directed at people enrolled in the Starwood Preferred guests program and frequenting the Starwood hotels and resorts.

You must have excellent credit rating and then you can avail the services of the Starwood hotels. Being an American Express card, it will be accepted almost everywhere and you will have no problems.

Rewards Point Program

As a Starwood Preferred Guests American Express card member, you are automatically inducted into the award winning Starwood preferred guest program.

Every dollar you spend using the card will earn you one point while purchases at Starwood properties or retail outlets will earn you double the points. You will earn one extra point if you make qualified purchases through the Starwood preferred guest loyalty program.

You will receive 3 Starpoints for every dollar you spend at any of Starwoods 750 participating hotels and resorts two Starpoints for being a Starwood Preferred Guest and an additional Starpoint for making the payment with your card.

Your first purchase with the card brings you 4000 points and a stay at Starwood hotels and resorts adds 6000 Starpoints to your collection.

Point Redemption

The points you build up using the Starwood Preferred Guests American Express can be used for free-stays at Starwood hotels and resorts (this, of course, rules out blackout dates and/or capacity restrictions). Thus, 10000 accumulated points give you three-nights free stay at the Starwood hotels.

Another very attractive feature of this program is that you can transfer points to a variety of frequent flier programs. Transfer of 20,000 such star points will get you 5,000 bonus miles. Star points can be transferred to 30 major airlines.

The accumulated points will never expire so long your account is active within a one-year period.

Additional benefits

The card offers benefits like travel accident and auto rental insurance, fraud protection, emergency card and cash replacement, various internet account related services and extended warranty for purchases.

Key Features Of The Card

Introductory rate - 2.90%

Introductory period- 6 months

Normal Annual Percentage Rate (APR)- 18.24%

APRs (whether introductory or regular) are applicable on purchases and balance transfers.

Annual fee is $30, which is waived for the first year

Rewards in terms of points

The slightly high regular APR makes the card ideal for those who can afford to make full monthly payments after the expiry of the introductory period. This way they can earn more reward points by frequently staying in Starwood hotels and can collect enough points for free stay at the hotels or use other travel related services for free within a 2 year period.

So, go ahead, and become a Starwood Preferred Guest card member. Enjoy the dream vacation you have been fantasizing about for so long.
